Josh + Taylor

Josh and Taylor came to Texas to visit us in November of 2017. This trip was a big deal (for me and Chase anyway). We’ve been talking to Josh, jokingly trying to convince him to move to Texas. Well, come to think of it, we’re never actually joking when we do that with friends or family. We’re serious, but light hearted about it. In the end, we want our friends and family to be somewhere that fits them. Sometimes that isn’t Texas. Josh has visited here a handful of times since our engagement. After all, he and Chase are pretty close. And while I haven’t known Josh for as long as Chase has, he is also one of my friends. Josh has seen the best and worst for both of us in our relationship and he treated me like a good friend would. He always kept in touch, asked how I was doing, and he sat with me at chapel during our last semester in college. I wasn’t just the girlfriend, I was his friend too. That will stick with me forever. All of Chase’s close friends are like that. And all those guys were in our wedding party. They became not just Chase’s friends, but my friends.

When Josh visited us the first time, in March of 2017, we spent a good chunk of the trip talking about this girl named Taylor…don’t worry Tay, all good things! They met on a blind date through her mom who happens to know them both (well, obviously she knows Taylor) and right after they’d been dating for a¬†short time, she left for Europe and Africa…for two months. They eventually became “official,” and months later they both came to visit us.

I love my husband’s friends. Third-wheeling with the boys is no problem; seriously, I grew up with all brothers – three to be exact. But to have another girl in this group of lifelong bromances is a dream come true. I could hear the Hallelujah Chorus.

While they were here in Texas we went to Magnolia Market because that’s where everyone wants to go. You don’t see me complaining! We also had bonfires in the backyard, competed in darts at a local pub, and they came to one of my girls’ games. We had some real conversation and plenty of laughs. The day they left we planned to take photos, and holy cow. One, they are stunners! Two, they are so fun to photograph. And three, THAT DRESS! We went over to Erwin Park in McKinney for a more organic, outdoorsy vibe. It was overcast and a little humid, but they were so chill, and maybe a little on the sweaty side. Taylor is such a cool chick, with a down-to-earth vibe about her. We have a lot of similarities, and we clicked right away. She’s really competitive too, which makes us a good friend match. Sometimes I wonder if she and I are a better match than her and Josh.

They are also amazing guests. They filled up my car with gas, took it through a car wash, and when we got home from dropping them off at the airport a gift was sitting on our bed. And of course it was products from Magnolia’s “Hearth & Hand” line – a throw blanket and a tote, along with the kindest hand written note. We love these two and miss them everyday. Now we’re just waiting for the day when they move to Texas and we all live happily ever after…

UPDATE: They live here now…something must be in the water in Texas. We can’t wait to do life with these two!
