Collin Martin

Okay y’all, Collin Martin’s senior shoot is one of my favorite client stories to date. I was contacted by his mom wanting to book his senior portraits this past fall. We had a mutual contact – a mom from Lucas Christian Academy who had booked me a year ago for her daughter’s senior portraits. After a few months of planning, all the details came together and shooting day arrived – my favorite day other than game day. I started shooting Collin (no, not THAT kind of shooting) and his mom, Gena, mentioned that they live in the city where my husband Chase works. I was rather surprised, so I mentioned to her that I knew where that city was because Chase works there. About thirty seconds later, we learned that our husbands work together. At the same department. Talk about a small world.

I could see that this information about his dad and Chase worked in our favor, as Collin started to relax and go with the flow of the shoot. I’m sure I felt like less of a stranger to them because of our commonality. For Collin’s session, they wanted to somehow incorporate the American flag. The flag painted on the brick wall in Deep Ellum was the perfect setting, especially for a senior guy who is involved in ROTC at his school.

God bless small connections.

God bless Texas.

God bless ‘merica.
