A Proposal at Mitas Hill Vineyard: Armani and Bella

There are a handful of moments in my life where I can tell you the exact date when it happened: when Chase asked me to be his girlfriend, when we got married, Wyatt’s birth, and…when he proposed to me. Like most big moments, I don’t remember every detail, but I remember how I felt, the adrenaline rush, and a handful of flash memories from each. Fortunately for us, we had those events photographed. I re-live them frequently.

Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph someone else’s special life moment. Armani was proposing to Bella, and with his planning, no detail was spared. It was quaint, intimate, and intentional. Watching others go through something we’ve experienced for ourselves connects us to each other. I could feel their joy…and her shock. It brought me back to my own proposal, the implications of the “big question,” and where it can take two people. And I am so grateful I was there to share it and capture each moment as it unfolded. The proposal happened at Mitas Hill Vineyard in McKinney, Texas, and let me tell you…it doesn’t seem like you’re in Texas (at least what people think Texas is like). The vineyards surround the main building, which sits on top of a small hill. Surrounding the vineyards are old trees that keep this amazing location in quiet hiding. I had no idea it existed until I made the twenty minute drive from my house to scout it ahead of time. I think we found a new date night location to try…

Armani had a picnic blanket set up with decorations and a few items of significance: a Bible with Bella’s name (with her new married name!!), and a photo album he put together.

And champagne of course.
The two made their way from the main building, through the vineyards to a small spot under a large shady tree. He briefly said some words (lol I couldn’t tell you a single one), got down on his knee pretty quickly, read some scripture to her, and proposed. It was personal, and even with me popping out from behind the tree, they seemed to not even realize I existed. For a photographer, that is what I call a job well done.
Oh, there you are!!
Poppin’ bottles cause they’re ENGAGED! I gave them some time to soak in their private moment, peek through their photo album, and clink those champagne glasses before I took them around the area to do a mini engagement session. It was so humid it felt like walking through soup. That’s Texas in the summer y’all.

Also, can we admire their outfit choices for a moment? Obviously Armani knew what he was dressing for, but kudos to all who encouraged Bella to wear this dress – hello bride!
